BackDocket

Connect BackDocket to Reflekt Legal so your AI intake specialists can securely sync leads, contacts, and matters with your BackDocket account.

BackDocket does not use a client secret. Instead, when you add an API key BackDocket generates an API Key and a Shared Secret, and shows your Current Firm ID and Current Person ID. You copy all four values and provide them to Reflekt Legal.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Administrator access to your BackDocket account (the API Keys page is under the Admin menu).
  • An active Reflekt Legal account.

Step 1: Open API Keys

  1. Sign in to BackDocket as an administrator.
  2. In the top navigation, open the Admin menu.
  3. Go to Integrations → API Keys.

Step 2: Add an API Key

  1. Click Add API Key.
  2. Give the key a name you'll recognize later, such as Reflekt Legal.

BackDocket then displays the Api Key Information screen. The sensitive information on this screen is shown only once — once you close the window it cannot be retrieved again, so copy it before closing.

Step 3: Copy the Credentials

From the Api Key Information screen, record all of the following:

FieldWhat it is
NameThe label you gave the key.
API KeyThe token Reflekt Legal uses to authenticate.
Shared SecretA private value paired with the API key.
Current Firm IDYour BackDocket firm identifier.
Current Person IDThe identifier of the user the key belongs to.
caution

The API Key and Shared Secret are shown only once, at creation. If you close the window without copying them, add a new API key and use those values instead. Treat the shared secret like a password — store it securely and only share it through Reflekt Legal's connection flow.

  1. Log in to your Reflekt Legal account.
  2. Navigate to Integrations.
  3. Search for BackDocket.
  4. Click Connect and enter the API Key, Shared Secret, Firm ID, and Person ID from Step 3.
tip

Generate the key from a dedicated integration or admin user rather than a personal account. If the key's owner leaves the firm or is deactivated, the integration keeps working.

Step 5: Verify

  1. Confirm Reflekt Legal reports a successful, authorized connection.
  2. Confirm Reflekt Legal can read or create a test lead in BackDocket.

If the connection fails, add a new API key in Step 2 and reconnect.
